How Much Material can the Twister Leaf Trimmer Process in an Hour?
// December 2nd, 2009 // Uncategorized
The Twister is the fastest leaf trimmer on the market, so how many pounds per hour can it pump out? While on the surface this seems like a pretty straightforward question (and I’ll answer it, I promise), there’s actually a number of variables involved which doesn’t make it so easy to answer.
First, there is the material being processed: As you know, the Twister processes various types of plant material, each with differing characteristics. Some materials have very stiff and crisp leaves, while others have leaf that is softer and more malleable. Typically, the softer and more flexible the leaf, the faster the material can be fed through the Twister.
Some material is also stickier than others; and the stickier the material, the more likely there will be buildup, which means you may have to pause more frequently to remove excess buildup.
Then you have the machine operators themselves: Are they bucking fast enough to ensure that the person feeding the machine never runs out of material? Is the person feeding the machine doing so constantly, or is he/she pausing every 15 minutes for a break? Not keeping the machine constantly full is the number one reason why people experience suboptimal performance.
And finally, there is the delicate balance between performance and quality. There is a certain amount of time that the material needs to spend in the tumbler in order to ensure a perfect cut (This time will vary slightly depending on the characteristics of the material, as noted above). The faster one crams material through one end of the Twister, the faster it’s pushed out the other. So if you’re looking for that close, uniform cut, then you’re going to have to settle on a speed of feeding the material that’s right for you. If quality is of less importance to you, then you might get away with feeding the material through faster.
Ok, as promised… Considering the above factors, an average speed at which one Twister leaf trimming machine can process material is 5-10 dry pounds per hour (Note: the material is fed through the machine wet/freshly harvested. The amount of wet material that can pass through the Twister in an hour is equivalent to 5-10 dry pounds).
It’s worth noting that a unique feature of the Twister is that its been specially designed to allow two Twisters to be placed back to back (More on the benefits of this feature in an upcoming post). By doing this, both speed and quality are enhanced even further.
Any way you look at it, the Twister is the fastest trimmer on the market. Which begs the question: It’s fast, but how’s the quality of the finished product?
In short, amazing – but I’ll save why that is for an upcoming post, as well.
